How I started selling my Plum Jewelry online

Who is behind Plum Jewelry? This question comes up a lot. I've always been a private person by nature, and I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone by expanding Plum Jewelry's business, but I still have a long way to go :)

I started marketing my jewelry in mid-2017, on Etsy. I made this choice because I thought the platform would help me determine if there was any appeal for my jewelry. So I started selling my first collection, "bohemian" jewelry.

Bohemian" or "fantasy" jewelry is more related to the inspiration of the moment and generally follows the fashion trends. The materials are not precious, and therefore inexpensive. They can be beads, wire, plated metal, brass, plastic, etc. I have therefore established the selling prices according to the cost of materials and the number of hours required to make each creation.

Knowing that the materials I used were not very expensive, the average shopping cart of my store was around $30 CAD. The target clientele was large, maybe too large when I think about it, it was consumers who were passionate about fashion. After the first 12 months of activity, I was making about 100 sales per month and I decided to start a second collection of "fine" jewelry.

For this, I launch a crowdfunding campaign on the Ulule platform to train and launch the new "timeless" collection in solid gold. Fine jewelry refers to more precious and semi-precious materials, with higher selling prices. Thus, specialized skills are required and I took a jewellery training in Montreal.

With the pandemic, I decided to launch my Shopify website officially in order to have control over my brand image and increase my online visibility. And here we are, a couple of months later :)

Do not hesitate to reach out for any questions, I'm always happy to connect with new people. Also you can follow my little adventure on IG
